NOTE:
The Body Control Module (BCM) may also be referred to as Multifunction Alarm, Lock & Lighting (MALL) module.
The BCM controls different body systems by obtaining information from various sensors and switches, then uses this information to command the output to each body system. Three different types of BCM are available: Type-2, Type-3 and Type-4. BCM Type-2 controls the following systems:
- Automatic power door lock and unlock.
- Chime/warning.
- Interior illumination control.
- Retained accessory power.
BCM Type-3 provides the same features as BCM Type-2, and includes functions that allow BCM features to work with Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system. BCM Type-4 provides the same features as BCM Type-3, and includes Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) system functions.
When BCM activates the feature customization mode, the following systems can be customized (if equipped). See FEATURE CUSTOMIZATION MODE under PROGRAMMING:
- Automatic power door lock and unlock.
- CTD.
- Interior illumination control.
- RKE.
