Body Control Module (BCM)

The Body Control Module (BCM) controls the door locking and interior lighting portions of the keyless entry system. On vehicles equipped with the content theft deterrent system (RPO UA6), the BCM also controls the remote alarm. One of three BCM types is installed on this vehicle based on vehicle equipment:

  1. BCM Type 2

Provides interior illumination control, inadvertent load (battery rundown) protection, chime functions, Retained Accessory Power (RAP), and automatic power door locks.
  2. BCM Type 3

Provides BCM type 2 features plus keyless entry system (RPO AUO).
  3. BCM Type 4

Provides BCM type 2 and features plus content theft deterrent system (RPO AU6) with remote activation verification and remote alarm.
