Blower Motor Does Not Operate In High Speed

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1999 Pontiac Firebird and 1999 Chevrolet Camaro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disconnect blower motor relay. Connect a test light between relay connector terminal A2 (Red wire) and ground. If test light does not illuminate, repair open Red wire between blower motor relay connector terminal A2 and I/P-1 (40-amp) fuse in underhood electrical center.
  2. If test light illuminates, connect test light between relay connector terminals A2 (Red wire) and C2 (Black wire). If test light does not illuminate, repair open Black wire between blower motor relay connector terminal C2 and ground connector located near left "A" pillar, bolted to instrument panel mounting stud behind kick panel.
  3. If test light illuminates, turn ignition switch to RUN position. Set mode selector switch to vent position. Turn blower switch to high speed position. Connect test light between relay connector terminal A1 (Orange wire) and ground.
  4. If test light illuminates, replace blower motor relay. If test light does not illuminate, check for open Orange wire between blower motor relay connector terminal A1 and blower switch 5-pin connector terminal "B". Also check for a poor connection at blower switch 5-pin connector terminal "B". If connection and wire are okay, replace blower switch.
