Diagnostic Aids
Intermittent problem may be caused by poor connection, rubbed-through wire insulation or broken wire inside insulation. Enhanced Diagnostic feature of Tech 1 scan tool can be used to check frequency of problem.
If frequency of problem is high, but problem is currently intermittent, use a DVOM to check for high coil resistance. Measure resistance between ABS enable relay terminals No. 85 and 86. If resistance is greater than 100 ohms, replace ABS enable relay.
Any circuit suspected of causing intermittent problem should be checked thoroughly for backed-out terminals, improper mating, broken connector locks, damaged terminals or poor terminal-to-wiring connections.
