Code 67/71 - EMB Circuit Open Or Shorted To Ground: Notes

• Code 67 - Left Front EMB
• Code 71 - Right Front EMB

This test detects short to ground or open in Electro-Mechanical Brake (EMB) release circuit. A short to ground between EMB and EBCM will cause EMB to be energized indefinitely at an uncontrolled current, causing EMB to damage itself.

Code 67 can set only when left front EMB is commanded off and EBCM detects left front EMB control circuit is constantly grounded. Code will be stored, ABS will be disabled and ABS warning light will illuminate.

1. Checks for short to ground in EMB control circuit.
2. Checks for open in EMB control circuit.
3. Checks for open in EMB battery feed circuit.
4. Ensures EMB is not internally shorted to ground.
5. Ensures EMB is not internally open.
6. Checks for short to ground in EMB battery feed circuit.
7. Ensures malfunction was not due to physical damage to circuitry.
