Code 154 - Adjuster Assembly Malfunction: Notes
Detects malfunctions of adjuster assembly that cannot be detected by adjuster assembly electrical tests or the initialization movement test. If malfunction cannot be detected, monitor the performance of adjuster assembly during TCS event. The TP sensor monitors actual position of adjuster assembly while the EBTCM commands a target position.
Code will set if during a TCS event, the EBTCM delivers current greater than 16 amps to adjuster assembly for more than 3 seconds without adjuster reaching its desired position.
NOTE:
Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart. Use only 10-megohm (minimum) DVOM for all voltage and resistance tests.
- Checks to see if Code 146 is set, since Code 146 conditions might affect Code 154.
- Checks for any mechanical binding of adjuster assembly, cables, and components to which cables are attached, causing excessive load on adjuster assembly.
- Since Code 154 only sets during TCS event, raise vehicle on hoist allowing rear wheels to spin, while front wheels stay stationary, inducing the system into attempting TCS control. This test ensures that throttle angle must be greater than 10 percent and less than 60 percent, and system must attempt TCS control for more than 3 seconds to ensure that the code setting throttle and timing parameters are met when checking for Code 154.
