Code 146 - Adjuster Assembly Will Not Move: Notes

Detects a stalled or frozen TCS adjuster assembly motor. During initialization, the adjuster assembly motor is commanded through a test sequence to determine if it can be moved for proper TCS operation. If adjuster assembly motor cannot be moved, improper current feedback will be detected by EBTCM, and code will set.

Code 146 can be set during and after initialization of adjuster assembly. If EBTCM detects a condition in which it cannot move the adjuster assembly motor, a malfunction exists. Code will be stored, TCS modulator motors are commanded home, TCS is disabled and TCS warning light is illuminated.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart. Use only 10-megohm (minimum) DVOM for all voltage and resistance tests.
  1. Checks to see if Codes 154, 164, 165 or 166 are set.
  2. Checks for any mechanical binding of adjuster assembly, cables, and components to which cables are attached, which could cause excessive load on adjuster assembly.
  3. Checks for initialization with throttle position between 10-60 percent.
