Low Oil Indicator

  1. If LOW OIL indicator does not turn on when oil level is low, go to step 6). If LOW OIL indicator stays on when oil level is okay, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Wait a minimum of 35 minutes for cold oil drainback calculation to clear. Disconnect oil level sensor connector. Connect jumper wire between oil level sensor connector terminals "A" (Black/White wire) and "B" (Brown wire). Turn ignition on.
  3. If indicator turns on for about one second, then goes off, ensure oil level is correct. If oil level is okay, check for poor connection at oil level sensor connector. If connection is okay, replace oil level sensor.
  4. If indicator does not turn on for about one second, then go off, turn ignition off. Leave jumper wire in place. Disconnect IPC connector. Connect test light between IPC connector terminal A15 (Brown wire) and voltage.
  5. If test light lights, check for poor connection to IPC at terminal A15 (Brown wire). If connection is okay, replace IPC. If test light does not light, repair open ground circuit in Brown and/or Black/White wires.
  6. Turn ignition off and on while monitoring LOW OIL indicator. If LOW OIL indicator does not turn on for about one second, replace LOW OIL indicator bulb. Cycle ignition off and on again. If indicator does not light, replace IPC.
  7. If LOW OIL indicator does come on for about one second, turn ignition off. Wait a minimum of 35 minutes for cold oil drainback calculation to clear. Disconnect oil level sensor connector. Turn ignition on.
  8. If LOW OIL indicator comes on and stays on, ensure there is not a low oil condition. If oil level is okay, replace oil level sensor. If LOW OIL indicator does not come on and stay on, check for short to ground in oil level sensor Brown wire. If wire is okay, replace IPC.
