Window Motor: Removal

WARNING: If electric motor removal from the regulator assembly is required, the sector gear must be locked into position. The regulator lift arm is under tension from the counterbalance spring and could cause personal injury if the sector gear is not locked in position.
WARNING: When activating the window regulator, switch may lock into the express down mode causing the window to lower without stopping even though the window switch has been released. Failure to use caution around window regulator when operating the switch may result in personal injury and regulator damage.
  1. Raise window to full up position and secure in place. Remove door panel covering and insulator. Window may be disengaged from regulator and removed from vehicle. If motor is held to door and regulator with nuts and bolts, remove nuts and bolts as necessary.
  2. If motor is held to door and regulator with rivets, punch out center of regulator-to-door rivets and drill out rivets using a 1/4" drill bit. Disconnect window from regulator.
  3. Move regulator and motor assembly rearward and out of the door through the rear access whole.
  4. Drill hole in regulator sector gear and backplate. See Fig 1. Install bolt and nut to lock sector gear into position. Drill out rivets and remove fragments. Remove window motor from regulator.
