Ignition Switch

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Unplug connector from ignition switch. Remove key. Continuity should not exist between terminal "X" (Red wire on mating connector) and any other terminal.
  2. Insert key into lock. Continuity should exist between terminals "X" (Red wire on mating connector) and "Y" (thin Red/White wire on mating connector).
  3. Rotate switch to OFF position. Continuity should exist between terminals "X" (Red wire on mating connector) and "Y" (thin Red/White wire on mating connector). Continuity should not exist between terminal "X" (Red wire on mating connector) and any other terminal.
  4. Rotate switch to RUN position. Continuity should exist between terminals "X" (Red wire on mating connector) and "W" (thick Red/White wire on mating connector). Continuity should exist between terminals "X" (Red wire on mating connector) and "V" (thick Red/White wire on mating connector). Continuity should exist between terminals "X" (Red wire on mating connector) and "Y" (thin Red/White wire on mating connector) or "Z" (Purple wire on mating connector).
  5. Rotate switch to START position. Continuity should exist between terminals "X" (Red wire on mating connector) and "W" (thick Red/White wire on mating connector). Continuity should not exist between terminals "X" (Red wire on mating connector) and "V" (thick Red/White wire on mating connector). Continuity should exist between terminal "X" (Red wire on mating connector) and "Y" (thin Red/White wire on mating connector). Continuity should exist between terminals "X" (Red wire on mating connector) and "Z" (Purple wire on mating connector).
