Anti-Lock Brake System
During normal driving and braking operations, ABS-VI functions like a conventional braking system. Each wheel sensor constantly sends AC voltage signal to the EBCM, which then translates this information into wheel rotation speed. When EBCM detects wheel lock-up, it activates the appropriate solenoid to regulate hydraulic pressure to each wheel. The pedal pulsation normally felt with ABS application should be present.
The BRAKE and ANTI-LOCK warning lights should come on when ignition is turned on and vehicle is started. If either light stays on more than 30 seconds after vehicle is started, system malfunction is indicated. See DIAGNOSIS & TESTING .
Red BRAKE warning light comes on if parking brake is applied, brake fluid is low, or accumulator pressure is low. Amber ANTI-LOCK warning light is controlled by EBCM. If problem is detected in system, ANTI-LOCK light will come on, and ABS operation will be disabled. DO NOT tap into vehicle's brake system to operate trailer brake system.
