Hold-In Winding

  1. Connect an ammeter in series with a 12-volt battery and "S" terminal on solenoid. See Fig 1. Connect a voltmeter between solenoid "S" terminal and ground. Connect a carbon pile rheostat across battery.

  2. Adjust voltage setting on voltmeter to 10 volts. Ammeter reading should be 13-19 amps.
