Hesitation Or Stumble

If there is a momentary lack of throttle response, which may occur at any speed, or is most severe when moving off from a stop, check the following items:

• Ensure fuel pressure is correct.
• Check fuel for water contamination.
• Ensure throttle position sensor is not binding or sticking.
• Ensure ignition timing is correct.
• Ensure alternator output voltage is 9-16 volts.
• Check ignition system ground circuit.
• Ensure canister purge system is operating correctly.
• Ensure EGR valve operation is correct.
