Adjustable Steering Column: Assembly

Lubricate centering ball halves and joint preload spring with lithium grease. Position spring between ball halves with ends of spring in notches. Lubricate shaft ends with grease. With lock bolt groove on upper shaft at 12 o'clock and lower pinch bolt groove at 7 o'clock, assemble shafts onto centering ball. See Fig 1 .
