Tune-Up Notes-Changes, Cautions, Corrections: Notes
- CAPACITOR DISCHARGE IGNITION NOTE:
System differs from ordinary transistor ignition in that a capacitor (condenser) discharges approximately 300 volts through the coil primary. The coil boosts this voltage into the necessary secondary voltage to fire the plug. Capacitor Discharge coil and distributor cap are colored red. The coil cannot be tested on an ordinary coil tester. A separate lead from the amplifier unit is provided for tachometer hook-up.
- OIL FILTER TIGHTENING CAUTION:
Follow specifications when installing oil filters. Excessively tightened filters may have to be removed by cutting.
- SPARK PLUG GASKET NOTE:
Spark plugs with attached gaskets (screw on type) may be removed and installed four or five times without affecting sealing ability of gasket.
- REMOTE STARTING CAUTION:
When using remote starter button to turn over or start engine, ignition switch must be in ON position. If ignition switch is in OFF position, internal ground circuit in switch will be damaged.
- DISTRIBUTOR POINT SETTING CAUTION:
New points should be set to.019" with a feeler gauge. Used points should be set to 016". A feeler gauge is not recommended for setting used points because of the rough point surface which prevents accurate measurement. After setting point gap, dwell angle should be checked with engine at idle and vacuum advance line disconnected. Dwell angle will vary with vacuum advance on this distributor.
