Anti-Theft Systems: Operation: Notes
The Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS) will prevent the engine from starting until the Body Control Module (BCM) receives a disarm signal. If the VTSS is triggered, the horn will sound, headlights and marker lights will flash, and the VTSS warning light will flash. If BCM determines the threat to be false, the system will shut down and re-arm itself after 3 minutes. The VTSS system is split into 2 sections, monitoring the engine compartment and passenger compartment. If a malfunction should occur in the engine compartment section, the passenger compartment portion of VTSS will still function normally. VTSS will not arm if the passenger compartment section is not secured.
