Strut Assembly: Disassembly

  1. Compress coil spring with Spring Compressor (C-4838), with at least 5 coils of spring between compressor jaws. See Fig 1 .

    NOTE: Coil springs are rated separately for each side of vehicle, depending on optional equipment and type of service. If removing springs, ensure to mark springs for installation in original positions.
  2. Hold strut rod while loosening strut rod nut with Strut Nut Socket (6864). Remove nut. Remove mount assembly. Remove coil spring, and mark it for installation to same side of vehicle. Remove remaining components. See Figure .
