Clutch Assembly: Installation

  1. Using Clutch Disc Aligner (6724), center clutch disc. Install clutch assembly with dowels and reference marks aligned. If installing new clutch or flywheel, align Orange balance spot on cover as close as possible to Orange balance spot on flywheel. With pressure applied to clutch disc aligner, center tip of tool into crankshaft and sliding cone into clutch finger. Tighten clutch bolts enough to hold disc. Tighten clutch bolts in a crisscross pattern a few turns at a time until a torque of 21 ft. lbs. (28 N.m) is obtained.
  2. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Use NEW axle shaft retaining clips and clutch assembly-to-drive plate bolts. Use teflon tape on threads of back-up light switch. Check back-up lights and speedometer operation. Adjust crossover cable. See CROSSOVER CABLE  under ADJUSTMENTS. Road test vehicle.
