Brake System Warning Light Test
Brake system warning light will come on when ignition is on and parking brake is applied. Brake system warning light will also come on when there is a malfunction in the ABS or service brake system.
To test brake warning light system, ensure vehicle is in Park (A/T) or in gear (M/T) and turn ignition on. As ignition switch is turned on, brake system warning light will come on and turn off. Set parking brake to applied position. Brake system warning light will come on and stay on.
If brake system warning light does not come on when ignition is turned on or when parking brake is applied, check for burned out bulb, loose or corroded socket, damaged instrument cluster circuit board, broken or disconnected wire at parking brake switch or defective parking brake switch. Repair or replace as necessary.
