Test VER-2A

  1. Verify that all components have been properly installed and connected. If procedure is being performed after a no trouble code test, go to next step. If procedure is being performed after DTC test, go to step  4.
  2. Verify if original symptom still exists. If original symptom no longer exists and no DTCs are set, repair is complete.
  3. If original symptom still exists or additional symptoms exist, check for Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) or flash updates and repair as necessary. If DTCs are set, go to appropriate DTC test.
  4. Connect scan tool to DLC. Erase all DTCs and reset all values. If PCM has been replaced, go to next step. If PCM has not been replaced, go to step  8.
  5. If PCM has been replaced and correct VIN and mileage have not been programmed, a DTC will be set in ABS and air bag modules.
  6. If vehicle is equipped with ABS or air bag, enter correct VIN and mileage in PCM. Erase DTCs in ABS and air bag modules. Inspect vehicle to ensure all engine and speed control system components are connected. Reassemble and reconnect components as necessary. Using scan tool, erase DTCs from PCM.
  7. SKIM data must be transferred to new PCM. Access THEFT ALARM, SKIM, MISCELLANEOUS on scan tool. Place SKIM in secured access mode using appropriate PIN code for vehicle. See ANTI-THEFT SYSTEMS - NEON article. Secret Key data will be transferred from SKIM to PCM.
  8. Road test vehicle for a minimum of 5 minutes. Ensure vehicle is driven at a speed greater than 40 MPH and that transmission has shifted through all gears. Stop vehicle and turn engine off. Using scan tool, recheck for DTC. If DTC resets, repeat diagnostic procedure.
  9. If DTC does not reset and no additional DTCs have set, repair is complete.
