Gauges Do Not Zero When Key Is Turned Off
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see
BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - INTRODUCTION article. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select ELECTRO/MECHANICAL cluster. If scan tool displays NO RESPONSE or CCD BUS FAILURE, go to appropriate VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS article. If scan tool does not display NO RESPONSE or CCD BUS FAILURE, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, read DTCs. If scan tool displays ROM TEST FAILURE, recalibrate all gauges. If scan tool displays RAM TEST FAILURE, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. If scan tool displays BODY COMPUTER ODOMETER FAILURE, replace BCM. If scan tool displays NO MESSAGE FROM BCM, PCM or TCM, go to appropriate VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS article. If scan tool does not display any of the listed messages, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect instrument cluster and ensure connectors are clean and not damaged. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, measure voltage at instrument cluster 13-pin connector terminal No. 2 (Pink wire). If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Pink wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace instrument cluster circuit board. Recalibrate gauges using scan tool.
