Test NTC-19A - Checking Intake Air Temperature Sensor
NOTE:
Perform TEST TC-118A - FUEL SYSTEM RICH or TEST NTC-1A - NO TROUBLE CODE TEST MENU
before proceeding. When performing this test, DO NOT allow more than 5 minutes between measuring temperature of intake air temperature sensor with scan tool and measuring the air temperature on inside of intake manifold with temperature probe.
- Turn ignition on with engine off. Using scan tool, measure and record the temperature of intake air temperature sensor. Turn ignition off.
- Remove intake air temperature sensor from intake manifold. Intake air temperature sensor is screwed into rear of intake manifold, near cylinder head and contains a 2-pin connector. See Fig 1.
- Using temperature probe, quickly measure the air temperature on inside of intake manifold, where intake air temperature sensor is mounted.
- If temperature of intake air temperature sensor on scan tool is within 10°F (-12°C) of temperature obtained on temperature probe, intake air temperature sensor is okay. If temperature of intake air temperature sensor on scan tool is not within 10°F (-12°C) of temperature obtained on temperature probe, replace intake air temperature sensor. Perform TEST VER-2A - ROAD TEST VERIFICATION .
