Keyless Entry System: Description

The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system allows for locking and unlocking of the vehicle doors, and activation of illuminated entry system (for approximately 30 seconds) using a hand-held transmitter. The RKE system activates the pre-programmed power driver's seat and power side mirrors (if equipped). RKE module is a separate unit.

The module may receive signals from 4 transmitters (only 2 transmitters can be programmed to activate power seat and mirror). Each transmitter has its own code which is stored in RKE module memory. If the transmitter is replaced, code has to be programmed into memory. The receiver (RKE module) is capable of retaining memory even when power is removed. The hand-held transmitter will operate within approximately 23 feet of receiver. The transmitter has 2 replaceable 3-volt batteries (2016 or equivalent).

NOTE: For information on Town & Country memory seat and mirror systems, see MEMORY SYSTEM article.
