Test 2A - No Response From Air Bag Control Module
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
- Using external voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and Air Bag Control Module (ACM) side of fuse No. 2 (Light Green/Yellow wire) in power distribution center. If voltage is 10 volts or less, go to step 6). If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Disconnect battery and wait 2 minutes. Disconnect ACM connector. ACM is located under center of instrument panel. Using an external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and ACM connector terminal No. 11 (Black/Light Green wire). If resistance is 15 ohms or more, repair open Black/Light Green wire. If resistance is less than 15 ohms, go to next step.
- Connect battery. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and ACM connector terminal No. 6 (Light Green/Yellow wire). If voltage is 10 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Light Green/Yellow wire.
- Measure voltage between ground and ACM connector terminal No. 3 (Violet/Brown wire). If voltage is more than 1.5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 1.5 volts, repair open Violet/Brown wire.
- Measure voltage between ground and ACM connector terminal No. 4 (White/Black wire). If voltage is more than 1.5 volts, replace ACM. If voltage is less than 1.5 volts, repair open White/Black wire.
- Using external voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and junction block side of fuse No. 2 in power distribution center (White/Black wire). If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open ignition switch output circuit between fuse and junction block. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Remove fuse No. 2 in power distribution center. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and ACM side of fuse No. 2 (Light Green/Yellow wire) in power distribution center. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace fuse No. 2. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect battery and wait 2 minutes. Disconnect ACM 13-pin connector. Measure resistance between ground and ACM connector terminal No. 1 (Light Green/Yellow wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Light Green/Yellow wire for short to ground and replace fuse No. 2. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace ACM and fuse No. 2.
