Windshield Wiper Test 13A - Rear Washer Motor Inoperative
NOTE:
Perform WINDSHIELD WIPER TEST 1A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
and WIRING DIAGRAMS
. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Using scan tool, monitor rear wiper switch MUX voltage. Press and hold rear washer switch. If voltage is not about 3.8 volts, replace Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) control module. If voltage is about 3.8 volts, go to next step.
- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector "B". BCM is located with junction block under driver's side instrument panel. See Figure in CHIME TEST 2A. Connect jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 50 (Black/White wire) on BCM connector "B". If rear washer motor operates, replace BCM. If rear washer does not operate, go to next step.
- Do not disconnect jumper wire. Disconnect rear washer pump connector at washer fluid reservoir in engine compartment. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, measure voltage at terminal No. 1 (Dark Blue wire) on rear washer pump connector. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Dark Blue wire.
- Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at terminal No. 2 (Black/White wire) on rear washer pump connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace rear washer pump. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open Black/White wire.
