Self-Diagnostic System: Notes

Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) are stored in Controller Anti-Lock Brake (CAB) memory. DTCs are cleared using scan tool or automatically cleared after 50 ignition on-off cycles. CAB will retain DTCs with ignition off or if battery is disconnected. CAB can store more than one DTC at a time and will display number of ignition cycles since most recent DTC was stored.

DTCs detected by CAB can be latching or non-latching. Latched DTCs will disable ABS function until ignition is cycled. Non-latching DTCs occur when system fault is actually occurring causing warning light(s) to light. Warning light is turned off when system fault goes away; however, in most cases a DTC will set.
