Power Door Lock Test 19B - Shorted Key-In Ignition Circuit
NOTE:
Perform POWER DOOR LOCK TEST 19A before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see appropriate sections in this article. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Disconnect key-in ignition switch connector. See Figure in CHIME TEST 4B. Using scan tool, read key-in ignition switch status. If scan tool displays KEY-IN IGNITION SW: CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool does not display KEY-IN IGNITION SW: CLOSED, replace ignition switch. See appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) "A" connector. BCM is located with junction block. See Figure in CHIME TEST 2A. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between BCM "A" connector, terminal No. 4 (Light Blue wire) and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Light Blue wire for short to ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace BCM.
