Chime Test 1A - Identifying Chime System Problems

NOTE: Perform SYMPTOM ID TEST 1A before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, go to appropriate section in this article. When directed to go to next step, disregard step if vehicle is not equipped with module being tested. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A  after each repair.

Diagnosis of chime system is separated into 10 faults. Identify fault(s) listed in CHIME SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC TEST DIRECTORY  table and perform indicated test(s).

Chime Inoperative At All Times CHIME TEST 2A
Chime Sounds With Seat Belt Fastened CHIME TEST 3A
Chime Inoperative With Driver's Door Open CHIME TEST 4A
Chime Inoperative With Dome Lights On CHIME TEST 5A
Chime Inoperative With Exterior Lights On CHIME TEST 6A
Chime Sounds With Driver's Door Open & Key Removed From Ignition CHIME TEST 7A
Chime Inoperative With Seat Belt Unfastened CHIME TEST 8A
Chime Inoperative With Turn Signal On (1) CHIME TEST 9A
Chime Inoperative With Low Oil Pressure CHIME TEST 10A
Chime Inoperative With Extreme Coolant Temperature CHIME TEST 11A
(1) Left or right turn signal is on for at least one mile at speeds greater than 15 MPH.
