Ignition Coil Resistance Test

  1. To measure coil primary resistance, disconnect electrical connector from coil pack. Measure resistance between B+ terminal and each remaining terminal of same coil connector. Replace coil if resistance is not within specification. See IGNITION COIL RESISTANCE  table. If resistance is within specification, go to next step.
NOTE: Each coil tower is labeled with corresponding cylinder number.
  2. To measure coil secondary resistance, label and remove all spark plug wires from coil. Measure coil secondary resistance between companion secondary coil tower. See Fig 1 . Replace coil if resistance is not within specification. See IGNITION COIL RESISTANCE  table. If ignition system components are in good condition, ignition system is okay. If vehicle still fails to start, proceed to NO-START TEST.
