Test 7F - Short To Battery

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. BCM is located under lower knee panel of dashboard. Using external ohmmeter, check resistance between BCM Blue connector terminal No. 7, CCD bus positive circuit (Violet/Brown wire), and terminal No. 22, key-in light control circuit (Yellow/Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Violet/Brown and Yellow/Red wires. Perform TEST VER-1.
  2. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between Blue BCM connector terminal No. 20, CCD bus negative circuit (White/Black wire), and terminal No. 22, key-in light control circuit (Yellow/Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between White/Black and Yellow/Red wires. Perform TEST VER-1.
  3. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between Blue BCM connector terminal No. 7, CCD bus positive circuit (Violet/Brown wire), and terminal No. 23, seat belt light output circuit (Dark Blue/Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Violet/Brown and Dark Blue/Red wires. Perform TEST VER-1.
  4. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between Blue BCM connector terminal No. 20, CCD bus negative circuit (White/Black wire), and terminal No. 23, seat belt light output circuit (Dark Blue/Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between White/Black and Dark Blue/Red wires. Perform TEST VER-1.
  5. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, use DRB-II in ohmmeter mode to check resistance at BCM case. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair BCM case ground. Perform TEST VER-1. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check resistance of Blue BCM connector terminal No. 19, signal ground circuit (Black/Light Green wire).
  6. If resistance is more than 15 ohms, repair open in Black/Light Green wire. Perform TEST VER-1. If resistance is less than 15 ohms, replace BCM. Perform TEST VER-1.
