Test Ch-VER, Charging Verification

  1. Inspect and ensure all engine components are connected.
  2. If SBEC has been changed and if vehicle is equipped with a factory theft alarm, start vehicle at least 20 times so alarm will activate when desired. If vehicle is a minivan or truck body, write Emission Maintenance Reminder (EMR) mileage into new SBEC.
  3. Connect DRB-II to engine diagnostic and erase faults.
  4. Ensure no other charging system problems remain by doing the following:
    • Start engine.
    • Raise engine speed to 2000 RPM for at least 30 seconds.
    • Allow engine to idle.
    • Turn engine off.
    • Turn ignition on.
    • With DRB-II, read fault messages.
  5. If repaired fault has reset, repair is incomplete. Check all pertinent TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS and return to TEST CH-1, BATTERY TEST  if necessary. If there are no other faults, repair is complete.
