TEST 45C - Diagnosing Liftgate Release

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  1. Reconnect body controller connector. Connect a jumper wire between terminal No. 9 (Brown/Light Blue wire) at wiring harness side of body controller Blue connector and ground. Press liftgate switch. If liftgate solenoid actuated, replace body controller. Perform VERIFICATION TEST - VERIFICATION OF REPAIRS .
  2. If liftgate solenoid did not actuate, disconnect liftgate switch connector. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of Brown/Light Blue wire between terminals No. 1 of liftgate switch connector and No. 9 of body controller Blue connector.
  3. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Brown/Light Blue wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST - VERIFICATION OF REPAIRS . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, put DRB-II in voltmeter mode. Probe terminal No. 6 (Black/Red wire) of liftgate switch connector. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair Black/Red wire as necessary.
  4. If voltage is more than 10 volts, reconnect liftgate switch connector. While pressing liftgate switch, probe terminal No. 5 (Light Green/Black wire) of liftgate switch connector. If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace liftgate switch. Perform VERIFICATION TEST - VERIFICATION OF REPAIRS .
  5. If voltage is more than 10 volts, connect a jumper wire between terminals No. 5 (Light Green/Black wire) and No. 6 (Black/Red wire) of liftgate switch connector. Disconnect liftgate release solenoid connector. Connector is located at bottom of liftgate behind trim panel. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary.
  6. Connect a jumper wire between liftgate solenoid body and ground. If liftgate solenoid actuate, repair liftgate release solenoid connector and ground. If liftgate solenoid actuated, clean or repair release solenoid ground as necessary. If liftgate solenoid did not actuate, replace liftgate solenoid.
