Using appropriate adapter and torque wrench, measure preload while turning pinion gear through one complete rotation within 4-6 seconds. Refer to the PINION PRELOAD SPECIFICATIONS  table and the PINION PRELOAD ADAPTER  table. If preload is not within specification, adjust end plug (rack support cover), and recheck preload. Tighten locking nut to 36-51 ft. lbs. (49-69 N.m).
