Manifold Absolute Pressure (Map)

The MAP sensor, mounted on the firewall for 2.5L turbo and mounted on the alternator bracket for 3.0L applications, monitors manifold vacuum via vacuum line attached to throttle body. The MAP sensor supplies the SMEC with an electrical signal which indicates manifold vacuum and barometric pressure. This information helps to determine air/fuel ratio. See Fig 1 .
