Fuel Injector Rail Assembly: Removal
- Release fuel pressure from fuel rail. See RELEASING FUEL PRESSURE in this article. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove air cleaner hose, throttle cable and transaxle linkage. Remove AIS and TPS wiring connectors.
- Disconnect and mark vacuum lines and hoses. Disconnect EGR pipe flange from intake plenum. Disconnect charge air and coolant temperature sensors. Remove fuel hoses from fuel rail. Remove upper intake section from intake manifold.
- Cover intake manifold runners from contamination. Remove and mark vacuum hoses from fuel rail and fuel pressure regulator. Disconnect injector wiring harness.
- Remove fuel pressure regulator retaining bolts. Remove pressure regulator from fuel rail. Remove mounting bolts and lift fuel rail from intake manifold. Ensure "O" rings are not damaged upon removal from ports.
