Barometric Read Solenoid Operation

On turbo models only. The barometric read solenoid is controlled by the SMEC. Located in the MAP sensor vacuum line, the solenoid controls whether manifold pressure is supplied to the MAP sensor. Atmospheric pressure is supplied to the MAP sensor periodically to measure barometric pressure. This occurs at closed throttle, once per throttle closure, but no more often than once every 3 minutes and within a specific RPM range. The information is used primarily for boost control.
