NOTE: Check meter indication if normal.
NOTE: ( ) ON means compressor clutch engaged. ( ) Pointer indicates over 4V momentarily. If it is hard to read indication, repeat the OFF ->ON or ON ->OFF operation of A/C switch several times.
NOTE: If the pointer of voltmeter deflects ISC motor is normal.

CHECK PROCEDURE CHART (USE ECI HARNESS CONNECTOR F - MD998480)

STEP 1 - Connect white color connectors with labeled "CHECKER" of ECI harness connector F to ECI checker.

NOTE: ( ) ON means compressor clutch engaged. ( ) Pointer indicates over 4V momentarily if it is hard to read indication, repeat the OFF -> ON or ON -> OFF operation of A/C switch several times. If the pointer deflects, ISC motor is normal. ( ) Failure of parts other than the oxygen sensor can also cause deviation from the specifications. Therefore, check other parts related to air-fuel ratio control. ( ) Block inlet to air cleaner while engine is running, voltage should drop slightly.

DISTRIBUTOR COLD ADVANCE CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE - Canada

INSPECTION

NOTE: Before removing vacuum hoses from the solenoid valve put marks on the hoses for correct installation.
  1. Disconnect the vacuum hoses (white stripe yellow stripe) from the solenoid valve.
  2. Disconnect the harness connector.
  3. Connect a hand vacuum pump to the nipple where white stripe vacuum hose is connected. See Fig 14 .
Fig 14: Hand Vacuum Pump Used to Check Air Tightness
    G93H53105
  4. Apply vacuum and check air tightness for both when battery voltage is directly applied to the solenoid valve terminal and when no voltage is applied.
    VACUUM AND AIR CHECK

    Battery voltage Normal state
    Applied Vacuum leaks
    Not applied Vacuum holds
  5. Measure the solenoid coil resistance.

Standard value: 36 - 44 ohm [at 20°C (68°F)]
