Instrument Panel - Standard: Description: Notes
Six standard instrument panels (similar but different) are used: Horizon and Omni, see Fig 1 ; Aries, Caravelle, Reliant and 600, see Fig 2 ; Shadow and Sundance See Fig 3 ; Daytona and LeBaron Convertible/Coupe, see Fig 4 ; Lancer and LeBaron GTS, see Fig 5 and Dynasty and New Yorker, see Fig 6
The conventional instrument cluster incorporates magnetic-type gauges and tachometer. With the ignition off, all gauges (and tachometer) will show a false reading. Readings are only accurate when the ignition switch is in the "ON" position.
The rallye instrument cluster used in Horizon and Omni models includes a fuel gauge, tachometer, speedometer and a combination voltmeter-temperature-oil pressure gauge assembly.
On Daytona, Dynasty, Lancer, LeBaron Convertible/Coupe, LeBaron GTS, and New Yorker models, the speedometer is electrically-driven.
On most vehicles equipped with a turbocharged engine, the instrument panel includes a turbocharger boost gauge and message center. The message center will indicate liftgate ajar, door ajar, low washer fluid and low fuel readings.
Dynasty, Lancer, LeBaron GTS and New Yorker also have message centers. Some models also monitor optional antilock brake systems. Various other information-providing options are available including an Electronic Module, Navigator and Overhead Console.
Lancer and LeBaron GTS models use a gauge alert module. This module emits a warning signal during high temperature or low voltage conditions.
Most models provide warning lights to indicate low oil pressure, faulty brake system, seat belts not fastened, low fuel, shift indicator, and "CHECK ENGINE" and "CHECK GAUGES" lights.
