NS-9 Test - Checking System For Code

  1. Connect diagnostic read-out box to diagnostic connector. Erase fault codes. See ERASING CODES FROM SMEC MEMORY  under TESTING & DIAGNOSIS in this article. Crank engine for 7 seconds. Turn ignition switch to "RUN" position for 5 seconds prior to turning ignition off. Place system in Diagnostic Mode. See ENTERING ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTICS  under TESTING & DIAGNOSIS in this article. Record all codes.
  2. If codes 88-11-12-55 are stored, perform NS-11 TEST - DISTRIBUTOR REFERENCE CIRCUIT CHECK (CODE 11)  . If codes 88-42-55 are stored, perform NS-12 TEST - CHECKING AUTO SHUTDOWN RELAY (CODE 42)  . If codes 88-12-14-22-24-55 or 88-12-14-22-23-24-55 are stored, repair wire in cavity No. 4 of SMEC 60-pin connector (open circuit). If there is no code 88 or 00 displayed, perform NS-10 TEST - SYSTEM POWER CIRCUIT CHECKS  .
