Electrical Circuits
- Ensure battery is fully charged and all electrical connections are clean and tight. Turn dome light on and operate seat switch. If dome light dims, seat may be jamming or binding. If dome light does not dim, proceed to step 2).
- Disconnect feed wire from instrument panel at fuse block side cowl circuit breaker. Connect 12-volt test light in series between feed wire and ground. If light lights, feed wiring is good. Remove test light and connect feed wire to circuit breaker.
- Disconnect wiring from other side of circuit breaker and connect test light in series between circuit breaker and ground. If test light lights, circuit breaker is good. Remove test light and connect feed wire to circuit breaker.
- Disconnect wiring harness at connector under seat. Connect test light between Red and Black wire in female connector. If test light lights, harness to seat is good. Remove test light and connect harness. Remove switch from seat harness.
- To check front motor, connect an insulated jumper wire between Red terminal in center section and either the Red with Green tracer or Yellow with Green tracer connection in front section. Connect a second jumper wire between Black terminal in center section and open connection in front section.
- If motor does not operate, reverse jumpers in front section. If motor still does not operate, the harness or complete 3-motor assembly is defective. To check center motor, connect an insulated jumper wire between Red terminal of center section and either the Red with Blue tracer or Yellow with Blue tracer connection in center section.
- Connect a second jumper wire between Black terminal in center section and open connection in center section. If motor does not operate, reverse jumper wires. If motor still does not operate, harness or 3-motor assembly is defective.
- To check harness, a 12-volt automotive battery, 12-volt test light, and an insulated jumper wire are needed. Connect test light between negative battery pole and one harness wire connector. On opposite end of harness wire, attach jumper wire to harness wire connector, then other end of wire to positive battery pole.
- If test light lights, harness wire is okay. Perform same test by checking all 6 harness wires. If all wires are okay, check motors.
- To check motors, a 12-volt automotive battery and 2 insulated jumper wires are required. Disconnect harness-to-motor connection. Note that there are 3 pairs of male prongs on motor wiring connector. Attach each pair of prongs in circuit with battery as outlined in step 11).
- Attach one jumper wire between battery and one motor connector prong and then connect other jumper wire to adjacent motor connector prong. Connect loose end of jumper wire to other battery pole, completing circuit. If motor runs, proceed to test other 2 motors in same way. If any motor fails to run properly, complete 3-motor assembly must be replaced.
- To check center motor, connect an insulated jumper wire between Red terminal of center section and either Red/Blue or Yellow/Blue connection in center section. Connect another jumper wire between Black terminal in center section and open connection in center section. If motor does not operate, reverse jumpers (Red/Blue or Yellow/Blue). If motor still does not operate, either harness or complete 3-motor assembly should be replaced.
- To check rear motor, connect an insulated jumper wire between Red terminal in center section and either the Red with White tracer or Yellow with White tracer connection of rear section. Connect second jumper wire between Black terminal in center section and open connection in rear section.
- If motor does not operate, reverse wires in rear section. If motor still does not operate, harness or 3-motor assembly is defective. If all motors and seat operate properly, the switch is bad.
