Alternator - BOSCH W/External Regulator: Description
The alternator has six built in rectifiers to convert A.C. to D.C. current. Output terminal current is D.C. The electronic voltage regulator has no moving parts and requires no adjustment after factory setting.
The alternator has a large transistor placed in series with field windings and control circuit which senses system voltage and turns transistor off and on as load conditions change. Control circuit has the ability to vary regulating system voltage as temperature changes. A rectifier is connected between the alternator field wires to prevent voltage surge to the ignition.
