Carburetor Switch Test

  1. With engine at normal operating temperature, turn ignition off and disconnect 10-pin connector from computer. With throttle completely closed, connect ohmmeter leads to cavity No. 7 and ground. Continuity should exist without resistance.
  2. If no continuity is indicated, check wire from cavity No. 7 to carburetor switch terminal. If continuity is indicated with resistance, clean corrosion from carburetor switch. Also check carburetor switch for proper operation.
  3. Open throttle and again check for continuity from cavity No. 7 to ground. There should be no continuity. If continuity exists, check wire from cavity No. 7 for a short to ground. If readings are not as described, replace carburetor switch.
NOTE: After performing carburetor switch test, perform tests on the coolant sensors, spark control system and fuel control system.
