Systematic System Check

  1. Remove 2 screws attaching module to the lower edge of the instrument panel. Allow module to hang down from the wiring harness. Wires on the connector are numbered from 1 to 15 (including blank spaces) starting with the Black ground wire on the end as No. 1.
  2. Ground a test lamp and connect to pin No. 2 on circuit board between Black plastic housing and White connector. Lamp should not light. Press "OFF", "SET" and "RESUME" buttons. Lamp should light only when "RESUME" button is pressed.
  3. Attach test lamp to pin No. 3. Lamp should light only when "SET" button is pressed. Repeat test with ignition on and test lamp attached to pin No. 9. Lamp should light only when "OFF" button is pressed. Turn on headlights.
  4. Lettering on cruise control switch should be illuminated and should dim and brighten with the instrument panel control. If switch fails any of the tests, test for continuity of electrical connectors. If connectors are okay, replace switch.
