Throttle Flap

NOTE: Engine must be warm. Ignition system must be adjusted properly. Air filter must be in good condition and in place on the vehicle.
  1. Check that throttle flap does not jam in its housing. Make sure that there is .078" (2 mm) of play between throttle drum and its stop. Ground the wire located at right front inner fender near air filter (this closes off the idle regulation electrovalve).
  2. Screw air bleed screw all the way in. Engine RPM must be set at 600. If the engine RPM is correct, proceed with setting idle preset adjustment. If the engine RPM is incorrect, adjust throttle flap.
  3. Disconnect rod. Loosen nut from screw. Unplug connector from throttle switch unit. Loosen 2 throttle switch unit bolts. Start engine. Adjust screw to obtain 600 RPM. Adjust throttle switch unit. Reconnect throttle switch unit connector. Perform idle preset adjustments. Reconnect throttle drum rod. Unlock 2 lock nuts and turn rod to obtain a play of .078" (2 mm). Adjust richness at idle.
