Anti-Lock Brake System: Description
The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) is designed to provide the most efficient braking ability under any road condition. The system monitors each front wheel individually, and rear wheels as a pair. During heavy braking, ABS prevents the wheels from locking up, which allows the driver to maintain steering control. It also provides the shortest stopping distance possible.
The ABS system consists of 4 wheel sensors, relays, fuses, hydraulic unit, 2 warning lights and an Electronic Control Unit (ECU). The difference between this system and other ABS systems is the brake servo unit is hydraulically operated rather than vacuum operated. Up to 12 brake pressure modulation cycles are possible per second.
