Opening Pressure

  1. Install injector on nozzle tester. Engage pressure gauge. Slowly depress lever and read injector opening pressure. Nozzle should open at specified pressure. New and used injector pressure should be 2103-2248 psi (148-158 kg/cm2 ).
  2. To adjust opening pressure, change shim thickness. Thicker shims will increase opening pressure; thinner shims will decrease it. Shims are available in thicknesses from .031-.077" (.80-1.95 mm) in increments of .002" (.05 mm).
  3. A .002" (.05 mm) shim will increase opening pressure by approximately 36.25 psi (2.5 kg/cm2 ). If opening pressure is incorrect, perform leak test before cleaning and adjusting.
