Description & Operation

Opel retractable headlights are mechanically operated and controlled by an actuating lever located on left side of console. Pulling actuating lever closes headlights and pushing lever opens them. Two meshing gear segments convert the movement of the lever to a 180° rotation. The pivots of the headlights are installed below centerline so headlight housing is flush with front sheet metal when in a closed position. A white indicator light, located on instrument panel, will light if headlights are not completely opened and locked.
