Installation Procedure

NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE
  1. Position the intermediate steering shaft into place.

    Install the upper pinch bolt from the intermediate steering shaft at the steering column.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolt to 48 N.m (35 lb ft).

  2. Install the intermediate steering shaft seal onto the steering column.
  3. Raise and support the vehicle.
  4. Install the intermediate steering shaft (1) to the stub shaft (2) on the power steering gear.
  5. Install the lower pinch bolt of the intermediate steering shaft at the stub shaft of the power steering gear.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolt to 48 N.m (35 lb ft).

  6. Install the intermediate steering shaft seal onto the power steering gear.
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Install the left IP insulator. Refer to CLOSEOUT/INSULATOR PANEL REPLACEMENT - LEFT in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  9. Perform the steering angle sensor centering procedure. Refer to STEERING ANGLE SENSOR CENTERING PROCEDURE in Anti-lock Brake System.
