Crankshaft Position Sensor: Installation
- Ensure the CKP sensor bore is completely free of any foreign material, such as old "O" ring, dirt, burrs, etc. Ensure that the flange on the CKP sensor bore is not damaged. Clean all mounting surfaces before reinstalling any components. Lubricate the CKP sensor "O" ring with clean engine oil.
- Install CKP sensor. Tighten CKP sensor bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Ensure the CKP sensor mounting flange is contacting the engine block. Connect CKP sensor connector. Install starter. Tighten starter bolts to specification. Reconnect starter wiring. Lower vehicle.
- Reconnect negative battery cable. On Aurora, install the rear seat cushion. On all models, perform CRANKSHAFT POSITION (CKP) SENSOR VARIATION LEARN PROCEDURE. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION.

- Lubricate CKP sensor "O" ring with clean engine oil. Install the CKP sensor and the retaining bolt. Tighten the retaining bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Install the CKP sensor electrical connector.
- Using NEW "O" rings, install the oil filter adaptor. Tighten oil filter adaptor bolts to specification. Lower the vehicle. Operate the engine and inspect CKP sensor for engine oil leaks.
