Theft Deterrent Relearn

CAUTION: If theft deterrent relearn procedure is not performed after a BCM replacement, following condition(s) will occur: vehicle will not be protected against theft by Passlock(R) system and/or engine will not start.
NOTE: A scan tool and Techline(R) terminal can be used to perform relearn procedure. Refer to scan tool and Techline(R) terminal manufacturer's instructions. Procedure will take about 10 minutes with use of scan tool and Techline(R) terminal. Programming theft deterrent relearn using following method (without scan tool and Techline(R) terminal) will take about 30 minutes.
  1. Ensure battery is fully charged. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Turn ignition switch to START position, then leave ignition switch in RUN position. Engine will not crank. SECURITY indicator light should come on for about 10 minutes, then turn off. When indicator light turns off, turn ignition switch to OFF position for 5 seconds.
  2. NOTE: Vehicle learns the Passlock(R) data on next ignition switch transition from OFF to START position. Ignition switch must be in OFF position before attempting to start vehicle.
  3. Repeat previous step 2 more times, for a total of 3 ignition cycles. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Turn ignition switch to START position. Engine should now start. Check for BCM DTCs and repair as necessary. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS  table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
